Lawrence Sekulich

I have always found the human face and figure to be a great challenge to draw or paint.  As a result of this, I incorporate the human figure into my compositions.

I do not work from photographs. I start with a drawing or a painted sketch done from life. From there I develop my images from other sketches from life or my imagination.

Art history, religion and mythology are also an important part of my work. Rather than trying to invent something “new”, I find it interesting (and fun) enough  to incorporate several millennia of art traditions into my work.

My only hope is that my “new” creations demonstrate good skills and a sense of mystery
