Oils – A Limited Palette Can be Liberating

Water Mixable Paint (Windsor & Newton Artisan available at Michael’s)

· Titanium White

· Alizarin Crimson

· Cadmium Yellow Light

· Ultramarine Blue

· Viridian Green

Water Mixable Oil or Acrylic Bristle Brushes (natural bristle gets too soft in water)

· Large, medium & small (preferably flat)

· These should be about 3/4 , 1/2 and 1 /4 inches wide

Water container

Paper towels

Palette or Palette Paper Pad

3 to 5 - 8"x10" canvas panels

Pad of Canvas Paper

Broad Tip Black Marker

Painting Knife (one with bent handle – sometimes called palette knife)

Reference Photograph

· Photo to be used in an exercise. Participants don’t need to spend a lot of time picking it out, just something that appeals to them and has some contrast.
